A Little Bit of History

During the game with Houston yesterday the White Sox did something that not a lot of teams have done, in the same game.

A Triple Play and a Grand Slam.

May 18, 2016 and July 8 2016 was the last time the Sox turned a triple play, let alone 2 in the same year.

Charlie Tilsons 1st Grand Slam of his career came in the top of the 6th inning.

The Sox are only the 4th team in the last 40 years to do this.

The Sox are currently 22 wins with 26 losses, 10.5 games out. A year ago we were 15 win with 31 losses, 13 games out.

This and That

Still no word on if Manny Machado or Bryce Harper have signed with the Sox, let alone anyone.

The trucks were packed late last week and are on the way to the ranch. Pitchers and Catchers report on the 13th.

Harold Baines has been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

A Season With the White Sox would like to offer our condolences to Ron Kittle on the passing of his Mom.

Update on Danny

The very best news came yesterday

DANNY HAS GONE HOME!

He was discharged from the hospital and will continue to recover at home.

Danny won’t return to the office again this season.

No news what will happen with Danny next season but from what I read he really wants to pitch again.

Only time will tell.

You can still send get well notes, just drop them off at the field or address them to Danny in care of the White Sox

Overnight News

It’s a good news , Sad news post

Danny has been up taking short walks with his wife.

Ricky Renteria’s Mom, Angela passed away. He will be away Friday and Saturday to attend the funeral and will rejoin the team on Sunday.

Our sympathies go out to Ricky and his family during this time.

Update on Danny

My understanding is Danny had a procedure on Saturday but he is listed as critical but stable.

Danny was able to visit with his Dad. He is able to respond to questions and he is able to use his extremities.

Danny was also able to hold a base-ball like he was going to throw a pitch. (Danny has been moved to the 60 day disabled list)

If you would like to send a get well card you can drop it by or send it to care of the White Sox and they will make sure that Danny and his family receive them.

Go North Young Sox

Quintana on the mound

To Toronto to be exact. I was not sure what to expect on this part of the trip. The boys have been playing better than a lot of people expected but when you wake up to the news its 7 to 0 in the second inning in the Sox favor, trust me, you pay attention.

Jose Quintana in the office today and he so needed a good outing and some quality run support.

Opening the 1st inning — Alen Hanson who comes to the Sox from Pittsburg opened the pond with a single and stole second, Melky walked. Jose Abreu with a triple got Melky and Alen home for a 2 to 0 sox lead. Todd Frazier with a sac fly to right brought Jose home for a 3 to 0 Sox lead. Matt Davidson with a double to left, who got home thanks to a Tim Anderson single for a 4 to 0 Sox lead.

Top of 2nd would see the score blow out when, with Hanson and Sanchez already on the pond, Melky with a double to bring the boys home for a 6 to 0 lead. Jose got in on the double fest with 1 of his own getting Melky home for a 7 to 0 lead.

Bottom of 2 would see the Blue Jays finally on the board with a solo home run, Sox 7 and Jays 1

Top of 3rd – Sox would add to the lead when, with Narvaez on with a double and to 3rd on a Sanchez ground out to shortstop. Narvaez would get home thanks to a Hanson single. 8 to 1 Sox lead.

Bottom of 3rd the Jays would add a solo home run for an 8 to 2 Sox lead.

Top of 5th with Narvaez and Hanson already on the pond Melky with a screaming shot to left for an 11 to 2 White Sox lead.

The Jays would add 2 more in the 9th but Jake Petricka would hold things and lock up the office for a monster 11 to 4 Sox win.

Jose Quintana with a much-needed and confidence boosting win.

** With the day’s events the Sox have gained a game only 5 games out of 1st. Mike Pelfrey is listed to have the keys to open the office for game 2 with the Blue Jays

White Sox and Tigers Series

Alex Avila, former Sox with a solo shot cutting the lead 3 to 2 in the 5th inning. Matt Davidson with a solo shot taking the Sox lead to 4 to 2, Kevan Smith scored on Melky’s single for a 5 to 2 lead in the home part of the 6th inning. Bottom of the 8th the Sox adding the final runs when Melky belted a 3 run home with Yolmer Sanchez and Leury Garcia already on base.

**Game 3

White Sox – 3 and Tigers – o

Tyler Danish in the office for the Sox.

The Sox did all the scoring in the bottom of the 5th, Tim Anderson scored on a Sanchez double play ball. Sox 1 and Tigers 0. Bottom of 8th saw a Leury Garcia smack a triple to get Adam Engel home for a 2 to 0 Sox lead. Leury Garcia scored on a Jose Abreu single to right.

**Game 4

White Sox – 7 and Tigers – 3

Miguel Gonzalez in the office, with David Robertson coming in for the save. Sox scored 3 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th and 2 in the 5th for a 7 to 0 Sox lead. Miguel had a no-hitter going until the top of the 7th inning when Alex Avila spoiled it with a single to right. Detroit added 2 more in the top of the 8th. David Robertson in to close the office taking over from Chris Beck.

**With the day’s events the Sox are sitting only 4.5 games out of first with Cleveland and Minnesota sitting above them.

**The Boston Red Sox arrive for the Sox Draw battle tomorrow, the first visit of Chris Sale since his trade in the off-season. He will be facing Jose Quintana in the office.
