Update on Danny

The very best news came yesterday

DANNY HAS GONE HOME!

He was discharged from the hospital and will continue to recover at home.

Danny won’t return to the office again this season.

No news what will happen with Danny next season but from what I read he really wants to pitch again.

Only time will tell.

You can still send get well notes, just drop them off at the field or address them to Danny in care of the White Sox

Overnight News

It’s a good news , Sad news post

Danny has been up taking short walks with his wife.

Ricky Renteria’s Mom, Angela passed away. He will be away Friday and Saturday to attend the funeral and will rejoin the team on Sunday.

Our sympathies go out to Ricky and his family during this time.

Update on Danny

My understanding is Danny had a procedure on Saturday but he is listed as critical but stable.

Danny was able to visit with his Dad. He is able to respond to questions and he is able to use his extremities.

Danny was also able to hold a base-ball like he was going to throw a pitch. (Danny has been moved to the 60 day disabled list)

If you would like to send a get well card you can drop it by or send it to care of the White Sox and they will make sure that Danny and his family receive them.

Positive thoughts for Danny Farquhar

For those who are wondering how Danny is the next days are critical. They took him to RUSH Memorial and the neurological team are looking after him.

For those of you who don’t know, Danny had finished pitching the 6th inning sat down in the dugout and collapsed.  The medical team was right there and did all they cold until the ambulance came.

The boys have written his number on their hats and hang his jersey in the dugout.

The family is asking for privacy at this time.

The club will issue statements as they feel they have information to share.

Just keep praying, Danny has a young family.

Suddenly Baseball doesn’t matter so much

The Ranch is open

Valentine’s Day had the best words a Girl could love:  “Pitcher and Catchers report to the ranch.”

The full squad reported on the 19th.

After trading him a season ago Miguel Gonzalez returns home to the pitching staff.

The boys open the spring league playing ranch mates the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday

The Law Firm of Garcia,Garcia and Garcia

I am loving this team for 2017. They are going about business and getting things done, surprising a lot of people. Before the season started when Chris Sale and Adam Eaton were both traded, to be honest a bit of a shock but it has turned out for the best. We have some great new kids who are playing damn good ball. The keyboard doubters said that we needed to lose a bunch of games and get a better trade deal when the season was over. At the time of writing this the Sox were only half a game ahead of Cleveland, Minnesota and Detroit. Other divisions have started to sort themselves out some but I am secretly hoping that by the all-star break it is still this close.

On Tuesday the boys went to work in Kansas City with Jose Quintana in the office. Jose had not had a great start to the season but once he finds his feet its hard to stop him and Tuesday was a brilliant outing. He threw 8 shutout innings of ball with Anthony Swarzak locking up the office.

The Sox scored 2 in the second, third and sixth innings for a 6 to 0 score line.

It was time for Robin Venture to leave and his replacement of Rick Renteria, in my book has been part of what was needed. Rick has brought a new excitement to the dugout and he is one of the first to greet the boys after scoring runs. He is also there when the starting pitcher is done for the game. Giving words of encouragement no doubt.

The injury list has not been updated as of today. 5 pitchers on there with what is looking like minor things to deal with. Getting them all healthy will be the challenge but then what do you do with them once they are back playing?

Charlie Tilson is our only other player in the list, from the stress fracture that happened in spring training. As of April 23 he was out of the moon boot and able to start load bearing activities. I really hope we get the chance to see what he can do.

I really think this is going to be an interesting season and I cant wait to see how things play out.

This group is going to surprise all of us.

I have no doubt.

What Sox and Royals – Game 1

I know I am a day late sharing this game with you, it was a holiday here in Australia yesterday.

Miguel Gonzalez was in the office putting his 2 and 0 record on the line. Facing Jason Vargas from the Royals.

Bottom of the 2nd saw Matt Davidson with a solo shot to center for a 1 to 0 Sox lead. The Royals would score their only run in the bottom of the inning for a 1 all game.

The bottom of the 3rd the Sox would take the lead when, Timmy Anderson scored on a Jose Abreu single. 2 to 1 sox

Melky Cabrera would smack an RBI line drive to center scoring, Anderson and Leury Garcia for a 4 to 1 Sox lead.

The bottom of the 6th would see the Sox scoring almost at will tacking on 8 runs, With Avi Garcia already on base, Matt Davidson doubles to right getting Avi home, (5 to 1 Sox). Anderson’s fly to center would see Matt Davidson get home and L.Garcia stopping on 2nd (6 to 1 Sox), Tyler Saladino with a triple brings home, L. Garcia and Anderson for an 8 to 1 Sox lead. Todd Frazier joined the run fest with a double moving Jose Abreu to 3, Saladino and Melky both cross home plate for a 10 to 1 Sox lead. Matt Davidson back to the plate for another shot, this time kissing a single to left, Frazier and Abreu heading for home ticking the scoreboard over to 12 to 1 Sox thumping.

Miguel Gonzalez took care of the office till the 8th inning when Anthony Swarzak got the keys to close up the office for the night.

Before the game today the Sox are just 1 game out of first.

The injury list is not playing favorites as we have a few pitchers on the list; Juan Minaya has been throwing to batters and he should be heading to a rehab assignment anytime. jake Petricka is being re-evaluated as of April 23, Zack Putnam has right elbow inflammation, spending the next 10 days on the list. Carlos Rodon has been playing catch with Coach Cooper. James Shields is on the 10 day list recovering from a Right lat strain. Charlie Tilson on the 60 day list still working on increasing load bearing activities.

Venting

I have had more than enough of when I share my feeling son the trades and all that I am an idiot and have no clue.

*Chris Sale trade – sure I was upset about it but I do understand it. We got some great prospects and I know that the stable was empty. I loved watching Chris pitch, now its just in different colors. My sister Judy is happy as she is a Boston fan. It will be interesting to see how he is received and all. I know that he and Kenny Williams butted heads over a lot of issues. I hope that Chris can finally get the Cy Young that he has been missing.

*Adam Eaton – I loved his energy and this excitement, along with that riffle of an arm it will be missed in right field. He always gives 110% and you could see that rubbed off on the rest of the outfield. I can see a golden glove in his future

*Jose Quintana – I would really love to see him stay and become our ace. Q has pitched in Chris’s  Shadow and I want to see him get his time in the sun. There is still talk about a trade in the work and only time will tell.

I get really tired of all the negative and when minor trades and things pop up everyone starts complaining, it is not good enough. Everyone is convinced that we will lost 100 games, and my question is how would you know that? The season has not even started. You really think they boys are going to go out and lose on purpose?

We have a healthy team and it will be exciting to see what happens in the spring.

I watch the ball games over breakfast here in Australia, I would be at the park if at all possible. I would live there if I could.

I am smart and I do get what is going on but I also have my feelings in all of this.

New Coaching Staff

Joe McEwing was named the new bench coach moving from 3rd base. I loved his excitement there especially when he waved the boys around 3rd to home.

Nick Capra will be taking over at 3rd.

Curt Hasler will be the head of the bullpen.

Daryl Boston will stay at first, Don Cooper looking after pitching, Mark Salas returns as the bullpen catcher, Greg Sparks as the assistant hitting coach and Todd Steverson returns as the hitting.

**Personal

When this news came out you could hear fans complaining already. This won’t work , we will be last again. My question was “How do you know it wont work?”

Only time will tell, let’s see what Winter Meetings bring.

Carlos Rodon for the Final Time in the Office for 2016

Someone pick up some milk with to have with the Twinkies

Carlos Rodon will open the office for his final time in 2016. He has had a good year, some outings were full-blown disasters but some were amazing.

Tyler Saladino had an MRI which showed a herniated L5 in his back. He is being taken care of now before being let go for the off-season.

For those who can’t see the boys are wearing white pants and black jerseys.

Tim Anderson with a stand up triple to open the pond, Melky with a double and Timmy home for a 1 to 0 Sox lead, Justin Morneau with a single moving Melky to 3rd. Wild pitch, Melky home for a 2 to 0 lead and Justin to 2nd.

Carlos is tearing it up with 5 strikeouts in a row.

7 strike outs to open the game tonight.

Adam Eaton walks on the pond to open the home half of the 3rd, Timmy goes “YARD” for a 4 to 0 lead. Melky with a double and Jose Abreu with a double to bring him home for a 5 to 0 lead

Omar Narvaez with his 1st Major league homer for a 6 to 0 lead. Spanky on 1st after force at 2nd. On a dropped pop up Spanky slams the gas, heading for home and a 7 to 0 Sox lead. Jose walks.

10 Strike outs for Carlos, top of 5th

Error on Todd, 2 runners safe and no outs in the top of the 6th, Carlos with a wild pitch and the Twinkies are on the board, 7 to 1, Twinkies with another one for a 7 to 2 Sox lead. Carlos has a loaded pond. 88 pitches to his point, 7 to 3 on the Sac Fly for Minnesota

Spanky with a single to open the pond in the 6th, Timmy with a single, Jose moves Timmy and Spanky 90 feet to 2nd and 3rd.

Carlos flipped Chris Beck the office keys on the way to the shower.

Here comes nasty Nate Jones to get the office keys from Robin.

Top of 9th and Tommy Kahnle in to close the office, lights out and door closed, Tommy just locked the door and this game is ova

**Final Score
