The White Sox took this game by a score of 4 to 2 against the Oakland Athletics. The Sox scored 1 in the third,2 in the fourth, and 1 in the eighth, with Oakland scoring 1 in the third,1 in the seventh.

Alex Rios and Tyler Flowers both hit home runs and Hector Santiago got to the seventh inning before the bullpen was hearing the phone ring to get moving. Conor Gillaspie had a massive day at third base and even drove in a run.

Paul Konerko talked about how they felt, the boys had hit rock bottom and there could be more to go. There have been some moments that it has gotten so bad that you realize that you have to get back to basics, You find a way to pick yourself and your team back up because it’s all you have. We have fought hard to find positive things, treat each other well even with it going bad at some point. Paul’s final point was that they KNOW they are not out of the woods by any means but we was a good step in the right direction.

Tomorrow started a three game series with the Toronto Blue Jays coming to U.S Cellular Field. The Blue Jays are currently 27 – 35 and will have R.A Dickey on the mound.

The Sox are giving the mound keys to Dylan Axelrod who is 3 – 4 with an ERA of 3.73.

See you on the field

Final Sox Drawer Battle

Addison Reed  Morning Kids

It’s the final battle in the war to see which Sox reign supreme. Hector Santiago got the call for today’s game with Chris Sale experiencing some tendonitis in his shoulder. They are hoping that a few extra days rest will help and as of now he is scheduled to pitch in the crosstown rivalry. I did see on twitter that as of now, John Danks COULD return as soon as FRIDAY night against the Florida Marlins, either Dylan Axelrod or Hector Santiago will be moved to the bullpen to make room for him on the rooster.

OK, Grab a coffee and see you at the top of the first

**Game Three with the Minnesota Twins      Sox 9 – Twins 4

Just a reminder being a very early morning game for me and I am still recuperating from my hospital stay last week I did not get up for this game but there is heaps to share with you.

I can share with you that the pitching staff today was as follows

Dylan Axelrod

Matt Lindstrom

Matt Thornton

Nate Jones

Brian Omogrosso

I have no clue what woke the boys up but with Adam Dunn hitting TWO home runs and snagging 5 RBI that was a really good day. Dayan Viciedo had to get in on the action and hit another home run. Adam’s batting average is only .156 now but this I would  think would be a huge confidence boost.

No errors finally in the game and in the double digits on hitting for the second game in a row.

We are only five games behind the Detroit Tigers, I have a couple of Tigers games I am going to take a look at and see what we are going to be up against when we finally meet up with them which will be after the All Star break before we finally have our first look at them.

OK, its time to pack the bag and head west young kids as it’s a four game series with the Angels. It’s a late start for me here in Australia as we are not scheduled for the first pitch until 11: 35 am for me here in Adelaide.

See you in California

More Spring Training Games

White soxFebruary 26 game against the Texas Rangers saw the Sox hammer them by a score of 14 – 8. Twelve  runs scored over three innings. Starter Nestor Molina and reliever Brian Omogrosso both pitched two scoreless innings,   with Josh Phegley getting his first home run of the season.

February 27th game also against the Rangers saw the White Sox improve their record to 3 – 0 – 2 with an 8 – 4 win. GM Rick Hahn was pleased with the progress of pitchers Nestor Molina and Simon Castro. They are needing to rebuild and have a great season in 2013.

Just some personal thoughts here. The boys had an amazing season last year. I think in some ways just the little things started breaking down at the end of the season. Detroit was really tough and it just felt that it all came for them at just the right time. We have a good strong team this year and so far everyone is finding their way and beginning to fit together as supportive unit, a team that is strong and healthy and supportive of each other.

This is one of those times living overseas is a downfall because I have to rely on the net for news, do a heap of reading to keep up with the boys. The fans from what I can see are totally amazing and in love with the black and white.

I just realized this is going to be a big challenge to blog this season but I am up for it. They say to write about what you know and I love my sports, time to put on the black and white for another day.

See you on the field
