Visiting the Atlanta Braves and the Minnesota Twins

minnesota_twins_logo-9493Evening Kids,

It’s an interleague game with the Atlanta Braves and the Minnesota Twins. I got this game in Australia during this week. I will keep it pretty simple but giving you my view of little things I pick up on and what to watch for during the season before the All Star break.

Tonight we are at Turner Field in Atlanta

Atlanta Braves send Julio Teheran to the mound, with the Twins sending Kevin Correia into the pitching battle for the evening

***First Inning

*0 – 0

Twins – (short to first)(second to first)(e3,runner safe)(hit into force)

Braves – (third to first)(single to right)(single)(runner to third)(single, runner from third scores)(fly out to right, runner moves from second to third)(HOME RUN) (single to right)(fly to deep center)

***Second Inning

*4 – 0 (Braves Lead)

Twins – (line drive to second)(struck out)(pitcher to first)

Braves – (single)(hit into double play)(fly out to center)

***Third Inning

*4 – 0 (Braves Lead)

Twins – (single to shallow center)(sac bunt, moves runner to second)(struck out)(fly out to deep left)

Braves – (single to center)(second to first, runner to second)(out at first)(fly out to center)

****Fourth Inning

*4 – 0 (Braves Lead)

Twins – (single)(struck out)(walk, runner to second)(fly out to deep center, runner from second to third)(third to first)

Braves – (double)(walk)(sac bunt, runners at second and third)(sac fly, runner at third safe at home)(short to first)

***Sixth Inning

*5 – 0 (Braves Lead)

***Seventh Inning

Minnesota Pitching Change – Caleb Thielbar now on the mound

*5 – 0 (Braves Lead)

Twins – (struck out)(first)(fly out to center)

Braves – (single to left)(second to short for the force, runner at first)(fly out to deep center, runner advances)(struck out)

***Eighth Inning

*5 – 0 (Braves Lead)

Twins – (fly out to center)(line out to left)(second to first)(

Braves – (struck out)(pop out to pitcher)(struck out)

***Ninth Inning

Pitching Change for the Braves – Luis Avilan is now on the mound, passes off to Cory Gearrin

*5 – 1 (Braves Lead)

Twins – (fly out to left)(HOME RUN)(single)(line drive to left, runner to second)(fly out to right)(fly out to left)

That is the game. To be honest I am happy not to be playing Atlanta with their solid hitting and pitching. They were able to produce offence from the beginning of the game. The Twins on the other hand seem to be having a real struggle, we just finished a series with them but they just seem that things are falling apart now. The twins just can’t seem to find that grove for things to fall into place all at once to start winning games.

Thanks for sharing the time with me

Day Off Due to the Weather

img_0053.jpgMorning Kids

Due to high winds and extreme cold the opening game against the Minnesota Twins has been CANCELLED.

I think it will do us some good to have that extra day to rest. Be at home in familiar surrounds.

I am off to do some writing and knitting and will see you at 4:35am Australia time for game two in this series. If I get any more information I will get it on to you as soon as possible.

Jake Peavy was supposed to pitch today, I don’t know if that will actually stay the same or if things will change.

So, this is what 2;30 am in Australia looks like, the coffee will be in high demand today. Its game three in the series and let hope we can get out with a much-needed win. Jake Peavy had the mound pass today, and fingers crossed he is well rested and ready to go. Gordon Beckham is on the 15 day disabled list as of April 12. Jake looked amazing, after that first pitch home run, Jake settled down and went to work.  Ok, kids it’s time to pack the bag again and grab the passport because we are heading north to Toronto Canada, for a four game series with the Blue Jays and then its straight home for a three game series with the Minnesota Twins, then the Indians come for a visit on home turf for three games and finally closing out the home stand is a four game series with the Tampa Bay Rays before a well deserved day off.

See you on the field in Toronto

@The Cell in Game Three against the Seattle Mariners

883719_10151880830168298_1708797922_o      Morning

Back with you for the final game in the series before a day off. We have visual today so I get to see the 1983 uniforms, which they will be wearing every Sunday during the season.  A slightly different line up today which I will go through with you as the boys come to the plate. Chris Sale is starting today, after a couple of days rest. The boys are tied for the lead with Detroit and Minnesota.

Ken Harrelson and Steve Stone call the games when I have video feed and I do quite enjoy them. They get a little silly and I am still giggling at the term “Duck Snort”

For those of you finding my blog for the first time, I am with you for each game possible, blogging what I see and hear. I set myself the challenge to blog the season not realizing what a big task it was going to be. Its 4am in Australia and I am at my desk, wearing my Chicago White Sox shirt. Will post a pic soon.

Jake Peavy received his Golden Glove today before the game.

Settle back kids, time to play ball……

First Inning – Mariners just hit a home run with a man on 2-0  Here come the Sox with Alejandro De Aza leading off, Alexei Ramirez (stand up double)  on deck and Alex Rios in the hole. Adam Dunn has moved to the on deck circle (Two Run HOMERUN)  D.H Paul Konerko. Tied up at two.

Second Inning – Three up and three down, here comes for the Sox, Danya Viciedo to the plate, Conor Gillaspie on deck and Tyler Flowers in the hole. No change in score.

Third Inning – Chris Sale’s pitch count just hit 40. Gordon Beckham is at the plate and rounds out the batting order for today. De Aza and Ramirez are back for round two at the plate, No change in score

Fourth Inning – No change in score. Runners left on the corners. Rios at the plate, Dunn on deck and Konerko in the hole.

Fifth Inning – No change in score. Chris has settled in and working well. Viciedo at the plate, Gillispe on deck and Flowers in the hole.

Sixth Inning – Home run Seattle, 3 to 2 Beckham closes round two through the batting order, De Aza and Ramirez.

Seventh Inning – What should have been a stand up double Tank (viciedo)  in left gunned the runner down. One gone. Time for a stretch gang. No change in score. Rios,(Home run)  Dunn and Konerko, Viciedo. Its 3 – 3 thanks to Rios home run

Eighth Inning – Chris Sale has gone to the showers, Matt Lindstrom on the mound for the Sox. Becks made a bad throw to Dunn so the runner is safe. Two on with one out, in need of a double play to close the inning, Flowers attempted pick off was no good. Matt gets the strike out so two down with runners still out there. Got out of that jam. Here comes Gillispe,(single) Flowers,(hit into double play) Beckham. Still tied at three all.

Ninth Inning – Matt is done for the day with Jesse Crain taking the ball on the mound. Still tied at three all.  Top of the order again with De Aza, Ramirez, Rios. Pitching Change for Seattle. Alexei is now the winning run at first. Another pitching change for Seattle, Coach ask for a southpaw. Off to the top of the 10th inning,

Tenth Inning – Can we please remember to CALL IT when its a pop up. Tyler nearly had a run in with Adam at first. They have a runner at second, thanks to a stand up double. They put the batter on with a free pass, Jesse held his nerve and we got out of that jam. It’s up to us to end this with Viciedo (Tank)  hitting the winning HOMERUN.

SOX WIN FOUR TO THREE in ten innings. I must have been away from the computer because I missed Addison Reed getting the save.

It’s a day off tomorrow, which means its time for some stats. Pack a bag as we go  on the road for a 10 game run with the first stop at Washington D.C with a three game series with the Nationals , then to my home state of Ohio for a visit with the Cleveland Indians, we finish up heading to Tornato for a four game visit with the Blue Jay’s before returning home for another 10 game home stand before a day off.

Have a super day and see you on the field.

NOW The Fun Begins

The sun has set at the Camelback Ranch and what an amazing season its been. Watching from Australia there has not been a much to write about, but that is about to change, when at 6 am Tuesday morning the alarm goes off. OK, I hear you going, “OK, she has lost the plot?” Being hours ahead of the USA it’s the time I have to get up to be able to watch Chris Sale throw the first pitch at “The Cell”.

I am excited but also realize the task I set myself is finally here. To blog the season with the boys, all the ups  and downs, and everything that come with it. Just a reminder as you join me on this journey, this is MY view, what I see sitting half way around the world during this season. I am looking at writing for each series throughout the regular season. I like keeping stats, and will do my best to keep things simple but updated as often as possible. Right now it feels like the road is extremely long but once things get moving time is going to pass quickly.

What I am getting on my Twitter feed is that the Detroit Tigers are the ones to beat in the American League Central but what ever do not count the Boys out. There are a few things that need settled and that will happen on the field as the season goes.

How amazing are things for Chris Sale, his recent birthday, his college Alma Mater playing the NCAA Basketball Tournament and tomorrow the opening day pitcher. I can not even imagine what he is going through tonight. I wonder if he is even able to get some sleep? Good Luck Chris, Have an amazing day, take it all in and enjoy the moment.

Good luck to everyone associated with the Chicago White Sox, the players, coaching staff and everyone in  the front office. Its going to be an amazing year and I can’t wait to see what happens, on this unknown journey we are about to take.

All that is left for me to do is make sure my White Sox shirt is out and ready to wear tomorrow, the alarm is set and my note pad is ready.

Get some sleep gang, tomorrow the real fun begins

See you on the field

Spring Training Thoughts and Past Memories

Been having a look though how the boys have been going over the last couple of weeks. Only four losses in among the games so far. Losses are expected now with returning to playing. I went and had a look through the roster and was surprised by the ages of the team. It’s a young squad but from what I can remember, most of them are returning players.

Living in Australia it hard to get a lot of sports from the USA if you don’t have paid television. They don’t play a lot of baseball here but I was able to take baseball thinking and apply it to learning the game of Cricket. It helped in getting the basics but now I can enjoy the game.

I love going to a baseball game and getting into the thinking of it all. The connection between the pitcher and catcher, the timing of being able to turn a double play. Seeing that very rare triple play. I would give anything to be at the park when a perfect game is thrown. I can only imagine how the tension is in the air, of the crowd and all would be so different, willing each ball that the pitcher throws to make it to the right place over the plate.

I was a kid when I was last at a ball park. It was the Cincinnati Reds game with a girlfriend from school. It was exciting and fun and lots to enjoy. I think then I was just wanting to be part of the experience and did not appreciate what unfolding before me. Why is it, years later you learn to appreciate those experiences that are special. I envy those people at the part the day Phillip Huber threw that perfect game. It was a special day and all those people witnessed something special. I hope I get to have that similar experience also.

Camelback Ranch looks like an amazing place and it has found its way on my Bucket List. Just to get up close and chat with the players. Get an autograph or two and some pictures. My thoughts wonder to the amazing man who this blog is dedicated to, Gary always planned a yearly trip to the ranch. He was such a Sox fan. His three oldest boys made the trip to the Ranch in 2011 when Gary was too ill to make the journey.  Gary did make it  long enough to see Opening Day before he passed away.  I would have given anything to have met him out at the Ranch for a game or two. From what I understand he was well-known by many of the players and management team.

This is one time of the year I get to missing home a lot. Missing that excitement and anticipation of planning a trip to the park, that first pitch, having a dog and a beer. Scoring the game in the program. I don’t do it very well, and it’s not correct but I can understand it and I find it fun to keep the score.

I realize that this has been a chat of random thoughts and views but it does not change the feeling of Opening Day at U.S. Cellular Field. The excitement that will be there as you enter the park. The nervous energy in the locker rooms as the time draws near to take the field and really get down to work for that one goal, to be there on that crisp fall day in October called the World Series.

The Office is Open

The pitchers and catchers have arrived and are getting back in sync with each other after the off-season and some down time. My twitter feed this week has been quiet for the most part but the pictures that I have seen so far are just amazing. The fans are turning out and full force and that is wonderful. I can see the excitement growing. I would love to be able to go to the ranch for a game. Even just see it on the computer but I don’t think I am going to have much luck there.

Saw a picture of Jake Peavy the other day with the pitching coach and he was looking really good. I can’t wait to get to watch him in action and see how he is doing.

The rest of the squad arrives at the office tonight USA time. Writing from Australia, I am a little ahead of everyone but I can’t wait for word from the ranch that everyone is there. Spring games will start soon and I am hoping that I can find them on the net to watch. Next best thing is my twitter feed.

Don’t forget you can find the boys at the Camelback ranch on Facebook and Twitter, along with seeing the pictures on Instagram. Loving the pics guys keep them coming.

Please bear with me as my information is limited right now but once the season gets going we will have heaps to chat about and photos to share.

Welcome to the Office the rest of the Chicago White Sox
