Sox head to Arizona for a 3 game series with the Diamondbacks before heading home.

Sox Split the Series

Derek Holland in the office for the Sox today with Ian Kennedy opening the Royals office.

The Sox wasted no time getting on the board when with Melky on the pond, Jose Abreu belts a 423 foot homer to center for a 2 to 0 Sox lead.

Matt Davidson taking inspiration from Jose Abreu home run from early decided ” Well if you can do that so can I” smacking a home run over the left center field fence for a 3 to 0 Sox lead.

Holland holding his own in the office keeping the Royals off the pond.

Tommy Kahnle in to lock up the office for an 8 to 3 Sox win.

**Injury update**

Nate Jones has joined the growing list with right elbow soreness and will be on the 10 day list.  Nate was afraid that he was heading for Tommy John surgery again as he was having numbness in his throwing hand. Scans have ruled that out. Hoping that just resting him will take care of the problem.

Carlos Rodon has been moved to the 60 day list, he is throwing off the mound as of May 4.

** Heading to Baltimore for a 3 game series. Home for a day off then welcoming the Twins for a series.

The Sox and Indians are tied for 1st place, Twins a 1/2 game out, Tigers a game out, Kansas city 6 games out.

The Law Firm of Garcia,Garcia and Garcia

I am loving this team for 2017. They are going about business and getting things done, surprising a lot of people. Before the season started when Chris Sale and Adam Eaton were both traded, to be honest a bit of a shock but it has turned out for the best. We have some great new kids who are playing damn good ball. The keyboard doubters said that we needed to lose a bunch of games and get a better trade deal when the season was over. At the time of writing this the Sox were only half a game ahead of Cleveland, Minnesota and Detroit. Other divisions have started to sort themselves out some but I am secretly hoping that by the all-star break it is still this close.

On Tuesday the boys went to work in Kansas City with Jose Quintana in the office. Jose had not had a great start to the season but once he finds his feet its hard to stop him and Tuesday was a brilliant outing. He threw 8 shutout innings of ball with Anthony Swarzak locking up the office.

The Sox scored 2 in the second, third and sixth innings for a 6 to 0 score line.

It was time for Robin Venture to leave and his replacement of Rick Renteria, in my book has been part of what was needed. Rick has brought a new excitement to the dugout and he is one of the first to greet the boys after scoring runs. He is also there when the starting pitcher is done for the game. Giving words of encouragement no doubt.

The injury list has not been updated as of today. 5 pitchers on there with what is looking like minor things to deal with. Getting them all healthy will be the challenge but then what do you do with them once they are back playing?

Charlie Tilson is our only other player in the list, from the stress fracture that happened in spring training. As of April 23 he was out of the moon boot and able to start load bearing activities. I really hope we get the chance to see what he can do.

I really think this is going to be an interesting season and I cant wait to see how things play out.

This group is going to surprise all of us.

I have no doubt.

Series Even at 1 game all — Sox and Yankees

Miguel Gonzalez in the office today and he was magical.

It was all quiet until the top of the 3rd inning when Avi Garcia stepped to the plate. The guy is hot and getting hotter smacking a solo shot over the center field fence for a 1 to 0 Sox lead.

Gonzo had the perfect game going until the Yankee’s spoiled it in the bottom of the 5th with a single to the shortstop

The bottom of the 7th saw Avi Garcia step to the plate again but this time with runners on the pond belting a 3 run homer to left center, extending the Sox lead 4 to 0.

David Robertson came in to close the office but got in some trouble, with 2 outs walked in a run for a 4 to 1 Sox lead. Robbie got the next Yankee’s batter to hit into a double play for the final out.

The series decider is set with, Dylan Covey listed as the probable starter for the Sox.

The Sox are sitting 1.5 games out of 1st with a record of 7 wins, 6 losses.

Watching for Fun — Sox and Indians

Robbie - CopyThe Sox have a 2 to 0 lead in the bottom of the first with Jose Quintana in the office

We don’t have much time left with the boys and I want to enjoy them while they are still playing.

Adam Eaton is out on concession protocol and could return on Monday.

Q got himself with loaded bases and then out of the mess,  He has had to do that a few times this year.

This season has been a mess from the word go, starting with the pitching rotation. In my book that sets the tone for the season. Gong to the bullpen before the 5th or 6th inning also puts alot of stress on the boys. some of them having to pitch longer than they are due to .

It really is time for Robin to go. We need fresh eyes, someone who can inspire the guys and give better support. Maybe he does and we can’t see it but  it’s time for new blood at the helm

I wanted to listen to Hawk for the last few away games. I know a lot of you are not fans but I have learned so much about baseball and heard some great stories. I even write in Hawkisms, and created a couple of my own. Not sure if he will be back next season but I wanted to have those last few games with him just incase.

Bottom of 2 and the Indians get on the board 2 to 1. Jose is in a world of hurt at 50 pitches already. Chris Beck up and getting loose.

Top of the 5th saw Leury Garcia with a single, stole second and got to 3rd on a mis throw into center. Melky with a single getting Leury home for a 3 to 1 Sox lead.

Top of 6th and Todd Frazier puts it on the board for a 4 to 1 Sox lead.

We have good piece, losing Brett Lawrie, the curse of the center field, losing Charlie Tilson and Austin Jackson. Wonder if everyone had stayed healthy what might have happened.

On the way to the showers Jose slipped the keys in Tommy Kahnle ball cap, You could hear him yell when he put his hat on, “Damn Q that hurt”

Tommy is done, leaving the keys with Robin for Dan Jennings

Top of the 8th — J.B Shuck in to pitch run for Justin Morneau, hoping to see J.B next season. (yes, I am a fan partly due to him being a Buckeye). He is good in the outfield. If he could get some good consistent playing time things would improve. (He had a hot streak going with the bat but with the outfield moving around he lost time)

Todd is safe at first, the double clutch cost the out. Avi with a single gets J. B home for a 5 to 1 Sox lead. Carlos with a single getting Todd home for a 6 to 1 Sox lead. Leury Garcia with a single of his own to get Todd home for a 7 to 1 lead. Carlos Sanchez home on a wild pitch for an 8 to 1 lead.

Bottom of 8th and Nasty Nate Jones in the office. What a come back he has had. The back issues and then had to go through Tommy John. I think he is actually better now then he was before, his confidence and control is amazing. Working in some ways as a set up for David Robertson.

David Robertson finally turns the office lights out (1 out), Robbie hit the batter (by no means did he mean to ), Robbie with 2 on the pond, Finally Robbie shuts the door with that second out. (like the beard back), with another strikeout Robbie locks the door.

Final Score is White Sox – 8 and Indians – 1

Sale into Kansas City

Chris Sale with the office keys to open this 4 game series in Kansas City

Tyler Saladino in at short to give Tim Anderson a day off. Justin Morneau is still not 100% and hoping to be back soon.

Tyler opens the Sox hitting with a single, Tyler out on a steal, Jose Abreu with a single.

Chris’s 1st pitch is a strike

Todd Frazier walked to open the 2nd. Alex Avila walks moving Todd to 2nd. Avi Garcia walks and the pond is loaded, with no outs. Leury Garcia ground to 3rd, Todd home and Alex and Avi advance feet. Sox — 1 and Royals — 0.

Jose with a single opens the top of 3, Melky with a double. A sac fly by Todd gets Jose home for a 2 to 0 Sox lead.

Bottom of 5th and Chris’s no-hitter is gone.  Royals have tied up the game at 2 a piece.

Bottom of 6th and the Royals take the lead 3 to 2, they add another for a 4 to 2 lead.

Todd barely got out-of-the-way, Todd with a 1 out standup double. Alex with a single getting Todd home for a 4 to 3 game, J.B. shuck in to pitch run. Carlos Sanchez with a home run and Sox take the lead 6 to 4. Carlos 1st home run since 2015.

Top of 8th and Melky adds a solo shot for a 7 to 4 Sox lead.

Bottom of 9th and Chris refused to give Robbie the office keys, thanks to Leury and the office lights are out. (Chris gave up 1st walk) Door is shut thanks to a strike out.  Lock that door this game is ova with that strikeout.

Win #16 for Chris

Miguel Gonzalez will have to go digging in Chris’s locker to find the keys for tomorrow

**FINAL SCORE

Sox – 7 and Royals – 4

Who Gave James the Keys to the Office?

Final game of the series and for some unknown reason James Shields found the office keys. This could go one of 2 ways, Sox win the series or we split it. Winning the series would be nice since it is something we have not done all season especially against the tribe.

1st pitch a strike

For those who missed the game the boys wore the white pinstripe pants with black jerseys.

16 pitches top open the 2nd for James. It was not pretty but James with the flick from Todd got the 3rd out.

Top of the 3rd the Tribe would score their only run for the day when, (James has lost his control and has walked 2 after a single) Sac Fly gets the job done for a 1 to 0 Indian’s  lead.

The Sox get their 1st run in the bottom of the 4th when — Jose Abreu goes “Yard” to left for a 1 all ball game.

Top of 6th and James struck out 8, striking out the side.

Chris Beck got the keys from James as he was walking to the showers. Chris Leaves the Keys with Robin for Dan Jennings (matching left-handed batter to left-handed pitcher)

Top of the 8th and nasty Nate Jones found the office keys when he put his hat on.

Who caught Nate passing the keys to David Robertson during their secret handshake?

Bottom of 9th and it’s still tied at 1 all

Omar Narvaez at the plate – Leadoff single – pitch runner Leury Garcia to take over at 1st. Leury safe at 2nd on a steal, Carlos Sanchez at the plate and a single to right gets Leury home for a 2 to 1 Sox win

**FINAL SCORE

Sox — 2 and Indians – 1

Pack your travel bags we are going on the road to Kansas City for a weekend series with Chris Sale, Miguel Gonzalez, Jose Quintana listed as having office keys for the series.

Game 3 in Cleveland

Carlos Rodon has the office keys today and a huge task, to help lead the boys to a series win over Cleveland

Adam Eaton opens for the Sox with a walk. Tyler Saladino with a walk. Jose Abreu with a walk to fill the pond, Justin Morneau with a 3 run double to open the scoring 3 to 0 Sox lead.

Carlos first ball a strike, Todd Frazier with heads up ball, taking the line drive and then tagging out the Indians base runner

Indians are on their 3rd pitcher who was originally supposed to start tonight.

Bottom of 3rd and Carlos has his 3rd strike out, (plate call is wonky )

The shut out is gone as the Indians finally get on the board 3 to 1, bottom of the 5th. the 4th double play by the Sox tonight.

Jose Abreu is safe as the throw pulled the 1st baseman off the bag.

Single gives the Indians another run , cutting the Sox lead 3 to 2, Carlos hit batter to load the pond. Some damn good heads up ball by Jose to keep his foot on the bag

Tim Anderson with a double to lead off the 7th, Omar Narvaez with a single gets Timmy home for a 4 to 2 Sox lead, Adam with a single. Carlos Rodon flips the office keys to Chris Beck as he heads to the showers. Nate Jones and Dan Jennings working in the pen. A double from the Indian batter makes it a 4 to 3 ball game. Nasty Nate Jones on his way to the plate.

**(Carlos had NO walks tonight)

Game tied at 4 all top of the 9th – Pitch hitter Jason Coast with a double, Dioner Navarro in for Omar

Bottom of 9th – Jacob turner in the office,Dioner behind the plate, Jason in right which moves Adam to center and J.B is out. Wild pitch gets winning run to 3rd. Sac fly scores the winning run from 3rd.

*FINAL SCORE – Indians 5 and Sox 4

Jose Quintana flipped Matt Albers the keys to the office as he walked to the showers. Dan Jennings caught the office keys from Matt Albers. 1 pitch with a single and the Indians lead 3 to 1. Dan gave up two hits is giving way to Chris Beck.

E – 4 in the bottom of the 8th, stolen base.

**Final Score – Indians 3 and Sox 1

**Side Note – I can see why the Indians are in first, they have used the quality pieces they have and added those players to finish off they group. they have a group that has stayed together and  fight every day. Injuries have been our downfall.

Who Takes the Series

Miguel Gonzalez in the office tonight, the lineup has changed a bit giving Justin Morneau and J.B shuck the night off.

Everyone is saying that we are out of playoffs but there is still plenty of ball left to be played. Cleveland is not as strong as they once were and now could be the time to get hot and pick them off.

Jason and Steve in the booth today

Melky opens the Sox batting with a 2 out single.

Miguel opens the pitching by striking out Dyson

Geesh Todd, start reading the ball better, will ya.  Tim Anderson with a 2 out single, Carlos Sanchez with a single, Jason Coast with his first RBI of his career, 1 to 0 Sox

Miguel made that pitch and something is not right, Michael Ynoa got the call from Robin, he will have as long as he needs to warm up. Michael hit the batter, E – 6, on Timmy, **News on Miguel has a right groin strain** Michael got out of that small jam.

Carson Fulmer gets the keys from Michael who had a great run in the office.

With Dyson safe at 2nd, should’ve known he would score, its a tie game at 1 all, a 1 out single and it’s 2 to 1 game in the bottom of 6th,

Good job Timmy ,  holding on to that pitch and making sure you got him.

**Danny Duffy has been unhittable on the mound for K.C, the boys have been fighting back but not had any luck.

Tommy Kahnle got the office keys from Carson. He did well giving up the 2 runs.

**Final – K.C — 2 and Sox — 1

**Side Note

I am so proud of the boys tonight. When Miguel Gonzalez left the game with the injury the boy could fallen apart but they didn’t. Michael Ynoa took the warm up time he needed and was solid. Carson Fulmer up next and they did get the 2 runs off him but he held his cool and got himself out of the inning.

Tommy Kahnle come in last and boy he had a big job ahead to hold the Royals and he did, Tommy with the help from Dioner pitched his game

A shout out to Dioner Navarro, what a man you are, tonight you earned your keep with  what was going on out there and all, “Thanks Mate”

Time to pack the travel bag and head to Miami for a 3 game series, Carlos Rodon, James Shields and Chris Sale are the listed starters for the series.
