Games 2 and 3 with White Sox and Indians – Fox Den Sports Desk

Welcome to the Fox Den Sports Desk. Kendria is joining me for games 2 and 3.  I wanted to go back and take a closer look at some of the questions that Kendria posed yesterday.

This should be an interesting game, Cricket, Corey Kluber (Indians) against Jose Quintana (White Sox). What are your thoughts of the match up??. . . .  Corey against Jose Quintana is a good even match up. Q will have to hold his nerve and hope that the offense can lend a hand.

Did you hear Jose Abreu is one of only 7 with 100 RBI’s in their first 3 seasons? Do you think Cannon (Abreu) can do it again? . . . . Yes Canon should have no issues hitting that 100 RBI mark again, once he gets his bat really going.

Avisail Garcia is one of the top hitters so far this season. Right now he is batting a .400. Cricket, any thoughts?…….Avi was still finding his feet last year after his shoulder surgery. I have been blown away but the work he did in the offseason. He has lost weight but put on muscle and that should help with the power of belting home runs.

Kendria, I wanted to ask you about your team’s injury list, Cody Anderson is out for the year with just having Tommy John surgery. How will that affect the rest of the staff gong forward? Charlie Tilson is our only long-term injury listing right now. He had a stress fracture back in Spring training and is slowly working on building his playing activities.

The Indians took game 2 with a 7 to 0 shutout.

Game 3 had Derek Holland facing off against Danny Salazar. whats your thoughts on todays match up Kendria?

The Sox wearing their throwback 80’s uniforms, and Cleveland in their gray away pants with navy jerseys.

The Sox open the bottom of the 1st, Timmy Anderson with a double to center for the first hit of the game. Tyler Saladino with a shallow single moving Tim to 3rd. Melky with a sac fly gets Timmy home for a 1 to 0 Sox lead. Jose Abreu with a single to right, Saladino scored and Abreu pulls into 3rd thanks to the error by Almonte. (Kendria, what happened there, a rare mistake by Cleveland) Sox 2 and Indians 0, Todd Frazier walked, Leury Garcia singled to bring home Abreu for a 3 to 0 Sox lead.

Top of the 4th and Lindo oped the Indians scoring with a solo home run to left. Sox 3 and Indians 1

Bottom of the 5th, Sox half of the inning, Abreu reached 1st after being hit by a pitch, Frazier struck out, Avi with a double gets Abreu home for a 4 to 1 Sox lead, Avi reaches 3rd on a throwing error. That is 2 errors for the game by Cleveland, any issues you can spot, Kendria?

The Sox add another run in the bottom of the 6th on the 3rd throwing error by Cleveland when Melky singles to left, getting Narvaez home (catcher dropped the ball) , Melky is able to pull into 2nd. Sox 5 and Indians 1

Bottom of the 8th see the Sox add their final run of the game, with May and Anderson already on the pond, Abreu is safe after a throwing error, May scored and Anderson stopping at 3rd, White Sox 6 and Indians 1

Top of the 9th and the Sox send closer David Robertson to the office, Chisenhall already on base, Kipnis walked, Robertson with a wild pitch and Chisenhall speeds home for a 6 to 2 Sox lead.  Robbie gets Santana swinging to lock up the office.

White Sox 6 and Indians 2

**The White Sox will host the Kansas City Royals for 3 games before a day off.

**The Indians have a day off before hosting the Houston Astros

Thanks again to Kendria for joining me for this series and we will do it again when the 2 teams meet again this season.

White Sox Rule over the Indians

I know that Kendria over at Weaver’s Sports Center will cringe when reading this, she loves her Indians but also is a Sox Fan.

The Sox wore their gray away uniforms today while, the Indians wore their all white uniforms.

Miguel Gonzalez in the office for the Sox facing Josh Tomlin for the Indians.

*Top of the first with Timmy Anderson at the plate and with Josh Tomlin 1st pitch Timmy smacks a solo shot for a 1 to 0 Sox lead. With Cody Asche and Avi Garcia already on base, Matt Davidson belts his own, taking the score to 4 to 0. Omar Narvaez bring home Yolmer Sanchez for a 5 to 0 Sox lead.

Cleveland get 1 home for a 5 to 1 Sox lead in the home half of the inning.

*Top of the 2nd and the Sox blow out the lead when Avi  steps to the plate already having Melky and Jose Abreu on the pond, send a line drive to center getting Melky and Jose home and Avi pulling into second base. White Sox 7 and Indians 1

All quiet til home half of the 5th when, Indians Michael Brantly with a solo shot for a 7 to 2 Sox lead. Jose Ramirez scores on a Lonnie Chisenhall line drive to right chipping at the Sox lead to 7 to 3.

The top of the 8th would see the Sox add 3 more runs when, Timmy Anderson scores on a Jose Abreu line drive to right, Melky pulls into 2nd. Thanks to Cody Asche single, Melky crosses the plate for a 9 to 3 Sox lead. On an Avi Garcia shot to right, Jose Abreu is home for a 10 to 3 Sox lead.

The final run of the game scored by the Indians was a Yan Gomes solo home run for a 10 to 4 Sox lead. The Sox were able to shut down any run try by the Indians in the bottom of the 9th.

The Indians are getting the litter box ready for the Tigers to visit who are currently sitting in first place.

The Sox are heading to Minnesota to have a snack on some Twinkies (Minnesota Twins)

Watching for Fun — Sox and Indians

Robbie - CopyThe Sox have a 2 to 0 lead in the bottom of the first with Jose Quintana in the office

We don’t have much time left with the boys and I want to enjoy them while they are still playing.

Adam Eaton is out on concession protocol and could return on Monday.

Q got himself with loaded bases and then out of the mess,  He has had to do that a few times this year.

This season has been a mess from the word go, starting with the pitching rotation. In my book that sets the tone for the season. Gong to the bullpen before the 5th or 6th inning also puts alot of stress on the boys. some of them having to pitch longer than they are due to .

It really is time for Robin to go. We need fresh eyes, someone who can inspire the guys and give better support. Maybe he does and we can’t see it but  it’s time for new blood at the helm

I wanted to listen to Hawk for the last few away games. I know a lot of you are not fans but I have learned so much about baseball and heard some great stories. I even write in Hawkisms, and created a couple of my own. Not sure if he will be back next season but I wanted to have those last few games with him just incase.

Bottom of 2 and the Indians get on the board 2 to 1. Jose is in a world of hurt at 50 pitches already. Chris Beck up and getting loose.

Top of the 5th saw Leury Garcia with a single, stole second and got to 3rd on a mis throw into center. Melky with a single getting Leury home for a 3 to 1 Sox lead.

Top of 6th and Todd Frazier puts it on the board for a 4 to 1 Sox lead.

We have good piece, losing Brett Lawrie, the curse of the center field, losing Charlie Tilson and Austin Jackson. Wonder if everyone had stayed healthy what might have happened.

On the way to the showers Jose slipped the keys in Tommy Kahnle ball cap, You could hear him yell when he put his hat on, “Damn Q that hurt”

Tommy is done, leaving the keys with Robin for Dan Jennings

Top of the 8th — J.B Shuck in to pitch run for Justin Morneau, hoping to see J.B next season. (yes, I am a fan partly due to him being a Buckeye). He is good in the outfield. If he could get some good consistent playing time things would improve. (He had a hot streak going with the bat but with the outfield moving around he lost time)

Todd is safe at first, the double clutch cost the out. Avi with a single gets J. B home for a 5 to 1 Sox lead. Carlos with a single getting Todd home for a 6 to 1 Sox lead. Leury Garcia with a single of his own to get Todd home for a 7 to 1 lead. Carlos Sanchez home on a wild pitch for an 8 to 1 lead.

Bottom of 8th and Nasty Nate Jones in the office. What a come back he has had. The back issues and then had to go through Tommy John. I think he is actually better now then he was before, his confidence and control is amazing. Working in some ways as a set up for David Robertson.

David Robertson finally turns the office lights out (1 out), Robbie hit the batter (by no means did he mean to ), Robbie with 2 on the pond, Finally Robbie shuts the door with that second out. (like the beard back), with another strikeout Robbie locks the door.

Final Score is White Sox – 8 and Indians – 1

Look out for those Indians — Bark in the Park

It is game 2 and Jose Quintana is in the office tonight. the world record was set

Adam Eaton opens the Sox hitting with a single, Tim Anderson and Melky get Adam to 3rd, a single by Jose Abreu gets Adam home for a 1 to 0 Sox lead.

Indians tie up the score at 1 all in the top of the 2nd.

It’s the bottom of the 4th and it’s been the pitcher’s dueling. Score is still 1 to 1.

In the bottom of the 6th with the pond full, Cannon with a single getting Adam home for a 2 to 1 Sox lead. (Adam reached the pond with a walk, Timmy singled, Melky with a single to load the pond) Todd Frazier with a single getting Timmy and Melky home. It’s 4 to 1 Sox, Avi with a single getting Cannon home for a 5 to 1 Sox lead. Carlos Sanchez with a triple getting Todd and Avi home for a 7 to 1 Sox lead. Spanky with a ground ruled double and it’s 8 to 1 Sox lead.

Chris Beck with the Keys to close out the game, and he is able to lock up the office door with 37 pitches.

Final Score Sox — 8 and Indians — 1

Game 3 in Cleveland

Carlos Rodon has the office keys today and a huge task, to help lead the boys to a series win over Cleveland

Adam Eaton opens for the Sox with a walk. Tyler Saladino with a walk. Jose Abreu with a walk to fill the pond, Justin Morneau with a 3 run double to open the scoring 3 to 0 Sox lead.

Carlos first ball a strike, Todd Frazier with heads up ball, taking the line drive and then tagging out the Indians base runner

Indians are on their 3rd pitcher who was originally supposed to start tonight.

Bottom of 3rd and Carlos has his 3rd strike out, (plate call is wonky )

The shut out is gone as the Indians finally get on the board 3 to 1, bottom of the 5th. the 4th double play by the Sox tonight.

Jose Abreu is safe as the throw pulled the 1st baseman off the bag.

Single gives the Indians another run , cutting the Sox lead 3 to 2, Carlos hit batter to load the pond. Some damn good heads up ball by Jose to keep his foot on the bag

Tim Anderson with a double to lead off the 7th, Omar Narvaez with a single gets Timmy home for a 4 to 2 Sox lead, Adam with a single. Carlos Rodon flips the office keys to Chris Beck as he heads to the showers. Nate Jones and Dan Jennings working in the pen. A double from the Indian batter makes it a 4 to 3 ball game. Nasty Nate Jones on his way to the plate.

**(Carlos had NO walks tonight)

Game tied at 4 all top of the 9th – Pitch hitter Jason Coast with a double, Dioner Navarro in for Omar

Bottom of 9th – Jacob turner in the office,Dioner behind the plate, Jason in right which moves Adam to center and J.B is out. Wild pitch gets winning run to 3rd. Sac fly scores the winning run from 3rd.

*FINAL SCORE – Indians 5 and Sox 4

Pack your bags and let’s go home, to welcome the Oakland A’s in for a weekend series. Listed office starters are James Shields, Chris Sale and Jose Quintana

Sox in Cleveland

Game 2 in Cleveland with Anthony Ranaudo in the office today. You will remember Anthony who hit his first home run when he pitched for us in his first game.

After 2 there is nothing on the board for either side. Starting to look like a pitcher’s duel

Indians open the scoring with a 2 run homer. Sox – 0 and Indians – 2

J.B Shuck with a single to open the 3rd,  Tim Anderson goes “Yard” with J.B on base for a 2 all ball game. Tyler Saladino singled and got caught stealing 2nd to end the inning. Solo shot by the Indians and its 3 to 2, after the Indians runner tagged on the fly out, he is home from 3rd and it’s a 4 to 2 Cleveland lead.

Jose Abreu opens the 4th with a single. Jason Morneau with a double has Jose at 3rd, Todd Frazier with a double and it’s a tie ball game at  all. 4 to 2 to 6 to 3, J.B out and Todd home for a 5 to 4 lead. The mistake at 2nd not getting the out just cost us a run with a tie at 5 all.

Michael Ynoa in the office, The lead off walk has haunted us again, standing at 3rd, runner safe at 2nd, single to right and it’s a 7 to 5 lead for Cleveland(we are missing Brett Lawrie, he always seems to fire us up) Here comes Robin after the office keys,(you can see by Michael’s body language that he is disappointed in himself.0 tommy Kahnle on the way to the office.

Melky lost it in the lights (E – 7) Indians with a double. the official scorer did correct and take away the error.

Dan Jennings with the office keys, fingers crossed he can hold things.

Top of 8th and Melky finally with is hit, everyone in the lineup now has a hit

Todd with a single but on an error Todd is at 2nd, J.B safe at first. Timmy at the plate, holy cow the pond is full, Dioner Navarro with a blooper to left and its drops in getting Todd home for a 1 run led by Cleveland 7 to 6.  HELL YEA KIDS, its a GRAND SLAM by Spanky for a 10 to 7 SOX LEAD

David Robertson with the keys to save this and lock up, Robbie with the dangerous lead off walk, now is a good time for a rack’em up(double play) , with help from J.B the office lights are out, that strike out now has the office door closed (2 outs)

With the help of Todd and Jose (throw from 3rd to 1st) this office is locked up , Game Ova

**Final Score – Sox — 10 and Indians — 7

Carlos Rodon will open the office tomorrow in the rubber game of the series.

Q’s first pitch is a ball

Indians open the scoring with 2 doubles taking the lead 1 to 0

E – 4 in the bottom of the 8th, stolen base.

**Final Score – Indians 3 and Sox 1

**Side Note – I can see why the Indians are in first, they have used the quality pieces they have and added those players to finish off they group. they have a group that has stayed together and  fight every day. Injuries have been our downfall.

Come Sale Away

sale - CopyChris Sale is in the office today, going for a 10 and 0 record. He has completed his last three games, with great defense behind him and bats blazing. Fingers crossed he can sure that 10th win in style.

You Can Put It On The Board, YES . Thank you Adam Eaton for that solo shot to right center field for a 1 to 0 Sox lead

Jose Abreu who was given the nickname of Cannon by Hawk Harrelson is on with a single to right.

Until the 3rd inning Chris had not given up a walk for 26 innings.

Chris is done for the night, in the top of the 4th,  it was not meant to be the 10 and 0 start

Zack Putnam is now in the office. I like Zack, once he can get settled in he is good. It’s early having to go tot he bullpen but the guys can handle it.

Cannon with a double and Brett Lawrie with another double for a 6 to 2 Indians lead.

The new kid in the office Tommy Kahnle, out to gain some experience and see if he can impress Coach Cooper. Most of what Tommy threw that inning wa sin the 95 to 99 speed range. Matt Purke has the office keys, his 2nd appearance.

Adam manages a single in the Bottom of the 8th but was left stranded

Dan Jennings now with the office keys. Tommy and Matt both had good outings. I hope Zack can settle down and get his control going a little sooner on his next outing.

Cannon smacks another double making this a 3 hit game.
