Rain Delay: Chicago and Cleveland

Happy Birthday to Frank “the big hurt”  Thomas from the Sox.

The line up today: Adam Eaton, Gordon Beckham, Conor Gillaspie, Adam Dunn, Alexei Ramirez,Dayan Viciedo, Paul Konerko, Alejandro De Aza, Tyler Flowers.

After two  complete, both teams left base runner but no one has made it home. Chris sale has only give up one walk.

The bottom of the third saw Eaton make his way home on a Gillaspie single. Eaton reached on a single to left, a wild pitch to second, made it to third on Beckham hitting a grounder to short. Inning closes with Viciedo fly out to left. Score 1 – 0 Sox lead

The rain has started again and the tarp is on the field. After a roughly 1 and 1/2 to 2 hour rain delay, Scott Carroll took over on the mound for Sale. The bottom of the fourth had a pitching change for the Indians when, Masterson made way for Mark Lowe.

The bottom of the fifth inning saw the Sox add to the lead when Beckham hit a home run to left. Sox extend lead 2 – 0. There were two pitching changes for the Indians when Lowe headed to the showers with Josh Outman taking over, John Axford closed out the inning for the Indians on the mound.

The top of the seventh inning had Scott Downs take the mound keys from Carroll, Cleveland did try to mount a fight back when Chisenhall singled to center, David Murphy also hit a single to center moving Chisenhall to third, Jake Petricka took over from Downs on the mound, Mike Aviles hit into a fielder’s choice to short shop which got Chisenhall home for the Indians only run. The inning closed with Justin Sellers striking out. Score in favor of the Sox 2 – 1.

From the bottom of the seventh inning to the close of the game was a pitchers battle as both teams made changes on the mound. Marc Rzepczynski took over for Axford, Cody Allen would be the final pitcher for Cleveland. Ronald Belisario would be the final Sox pitcher taking over for Petricka. 

The final score – Chicago – 2 and Cleveland – 1
