Back Home to Welcome the Yankees


Welcome to The Cell and we have the Yankees here for a four game series. Chris Sale makes his return from the disabled list to start today for the Sox. On the mound for New York is David Phelps.

Starting line up for today: Adam Eaton, Gordon Beckham,Conor Gillaspie, Dayan Viciedo, Adam Dunn, Alexei Ramirez,Paul Konerko, Alejandro De Aza, Tyler Flowers.

The bottom of the second inning has Konerko hitting a double to right and De Aza with another double to left  to get Konerko home. Flowers was given a walk to reach base, Eaton with a single gets De Aza home for a 2 – 0 Sox lead

In the bottom of the fourth inning the Sox got things going again when Ramirez reached on a single, and was safe on second thanks to a steal. Flowers shallow single to left moved Ramirez to third but the inning closed with a line out to short by Eaton

Top of the Seventh has brought Zach Putnam to the mound for Chris Sale. Through 5 complete innings New York was not able to get a base runner on until the top of the sixth inning when Zoilo Almonte hit a single to center to spoil the perfect game Chris had going. The Sox still have the lead 2 – 0

Top of the eighth inning sees Daniel Webb taking over for Zach Putnam on the mound. Bottom of the inning has Beckham leading off with a double, Dunn with an RBI single to get Beckham home taking the score to 3 – 0. Konerko closed out the inning with a fly out to right

Top of the ninth inning sees the Sox new closer, Ronald Belisario in to hold and close out the game.

Ichiro Suzuki with a single to right, taking things to a two hit game. Jeter walked, Mark Teixeira singled to center, bringing home  Suzuki and  Jeter making it a 3 – 2 Sox lead. Alfonso Soriano struck out to close the game.
