Game Two with the Royals – Wild Pitches Everywhere
Matt Lindstrom is on the 15 Day Disabled List after rolling his ankle in yesterdays game.
Game two with the Kansas City Royals saw Andre Rienzo take to the mound for the Sox against Yordano Ventura for the Royals.
The Sox lined up today as follows: Adam Eaton, Gordon Beckham, Conor Gillaspie, Dayan Viciedo, Adam Dunn, Alexei Ramirez, Paul Konerko, Alejandro De Aza, Tyler Flowers. The boy wore their black jersey’s with grey pants for tonight game.
Top of the first it was the White Sox who started the scoring when, Gillaspie after smacking a triple to right center scored on a Viciedo single which made the score 1 – 0 in favor of the Sox.
Rienzo got in trouble in the bottom of the Second inning when Butler was given a free pass on base by way of a walk, He then hit Gordon which moved Butler over. Valencia hit a double to deep right which scored both Butler and Gordon, giving the Royals the lead 2 – 1.
Things got quiet until the top of the fifth inning when Flowers hit a 438 feet home run to right, Eaton doubled to left and reached third on a wild pitch by Ventura. Beckham’s single to left brought Eaton home. Beckham reached second on another wild pitch, Gillaspie’s ground to out first moved Beckham to third. Beckham raced home on another wild pitch. By the close of the inning the Sox had regained the lead by a score of 4 – 2
The seventh inning saw pitching changes for both sides when, Tom Collins took over for Yordano Ventura and Jake Petricka took over for Rienzo
The top of the eighth inning saw Aaron Crow take over on the mound for the Royals and the Sox do the most damage when Beckham and Gillaspie who both reached on singles, Dunn’s 440 foot home run to center taking the score to 7 – 2 in the Sox favor. Casey Coleman took over the mound duties to close out the inning.
The bottom of the inning the Royals mounted a comeback when, Scott Downs took over on the mound for the Sox, and with Hosmer and Butler both on base Gordon grounded to second scoring Hosmer and moving butler to third. Frank Francisco took over on the mound from Downs with Cain at the plate who would hit a single to right which scored Butler, Cain stole his way to third, Valencia reached second and Cain scored on a Francisco wild pitch. Zach Putnam came on for the Sox, holding things and closing the inning with the score, Sox 7 and Royals 5.
The ninth inning saw the final two pitching changes for both sides when, Casey Coleman and Ronald Belisario took over the duties, the Royals tried to take the win, when Butler who reached on a double and a passed ball to third, scored off a Gordon single to right.
Final Score — White Sox 7 and the Royals 6. The Sox have made up two games on The Tigers as they have been beaten by the Cleveland Indians in their last two games.
