Game Two with Detroit

Hey Gang

It was an early start for the boys today as it was a travel day for all teams on the road.

Game 2 had Hector Noesi on the mound for the Sox against Max Scherzer for Detroit. We knew going in it was going to be a tough game going in.

Everything was quiet til the fourth inning when the Tigers bats got going and put some runs on the board. Hunter got started with a double to right center, Caberea followed with a single moving Hunter to third. Martinez sacrifice to center scored Hunter, Martinez double moved Cabrera to third who would cross the plate on a Castellanos sacrifice to left. Holaday smacked a double to right which scored Martinez and Jackson who reached earlier on a walk. Petricka took over on the mound for Noesi.

The first pitching changes took place in the seventh inning when Zach Putnam took over for Petricka and Al Albuquerque came in for Scherzer. Pitchers changed again when Miakel Cleto and Joba Chamberlain took over mound duties for the Tigers.

The top of the ninth, the Tigers would add the final run they needed, Daniel Webb was the final Sox pitcher, With the bases loaded Martinez was walked, which scored Holaday who had earlier walked himself. The score at the close of the Tigers half of the inning was 5 – 0.

The Sox had one final chance in the bottom of the ninth inning, Reed tool over on the mound for the Tigers and Viciedo starts the run with a double to left, with two outs. Flowers hit a single which allowed Viciedo to score for the only run for the Sox.

Thursday is a day off before a road trip to Cleveland for three games when the Sox will send, John Danks, Scott Carroll and Andre Rienzo for the series.
