April 3, @ The Cell against K.C. Royals

Morning Kids,

a-jake-peavy-24:30 am in Australia and am waiting for the game to start. The line up is the same as opening day with the only change at pitching, crossing off Chris Sale and inserting Jake Peavy.

Yesterday I got the Texas Rangers, Houston Astros game and it was almost the perfect game for Texas. Not sure how that wound up falling apart in the end but I will get back to you on that one and let you know the outcome.

Ok, my feed just started, so that is an even better thing. I am using Wiziwig.tv. It does buffer a bit more than I like but it’s a good feed and I have a good picture. Check out the Pie footage from behind the scenes, good for some giggles.

Time to settle in and get this game started.

Jake threw roughly 14 pitches and kept the bases clear. He got himself into a full count but managed to get out of the inning. Batting in this inning are Alejandro De Aza, Jeff Keppinger,(a unique batting stand) and Alex Rios.

5 strikeouts so far for Jake. Working well with Tyler behind the plate. At the plate this inning is Adam Dunn(HOME RUN – to right field), Paul Konerko, Dayan Ramirez, Alexei Ramirez.

Two errors in the 3rd by the outfield now erase the shut out that Jake had going. K.C was able to score a run on those mistakes so its one all heading to the bottom of the fourth. A couple of our boys upon returning to the dugout, you could see they were not happy with themselves for the mistakes.

Tyler Flowers just made it a 2 to 1 lead with a leadoff home run. Gordon Beckham  will round out the batting order for today.

Dayan Viciedo just got that run back from earlier, its a HOME RUN with Adam Dunn already on base. Top of fifth its 4 to 1 Sox ahead

Top of the 6th: For K.C Butler grounds out and Butler from third scores making it 4 – 2. Jake hits the 100 pitches thrown and the bullpen is up and moving. Jake is still looking good but you can see that he is getting a little tired. He is holding his nerve and getting out of those little jams when things happen. The boys mistakes in the outfield have been the issue causing one of the two runs today.

Sixth inning with two out and ducks on the pond. Adam on third with Paul on second and Dayan at the plate. Tank flied to deep left to close the seventh with the score still 4 – 2 Sox

TOP OF SEVENTH – Jake is done for the day 6 innings pitched. Jesse Crain now on the mound. Dewayne Wise is now in left field and just dropped a ball at the left field line. That makes ERROR number THREE. Runners are at the corner after that one, the guy calling the game called it a Duck snort, got me giggling. Middle man Jesse Crain is done with Closer Donnie Veal on the way to the mound. Donnie Veal got into trouble and is now gone with Matt Lindstrom on the way to the mound. Still bases loaded, lets see if we can get out of this jam? Holding breath here……….OK, No clue how but we got out of that mess with the lead still in our favor, time for a stretch kids.

Bottom of 7th inning starting and let’s get that four-leaf clover out and see if we can close this bad boy out with another win. We really need to do all we can to keep up with Detroit. Alexei just smacked his first homer of the season for a 5 – 2 lead. Got two ducks floating at first and second, with no one out. De Aza bunted to move the runners. Wild ball gets away from the catcher and they get Tyler at home, Kinda stupid to try that ya think when the runner doesn’t have good speed.

Here comes Coach and here comes Matt Thornton from the bullpen to hopefully close this out and another tick in the win column.

Top of the 9th gang, got a 3 run lead to protect, mistakes have cost us in what would otherwise have been a really good outing. Its Kansas City for one more game tomorrow so lets hope there is no overhang. Addison Reed has replaces Matt on the mound. Gordon, You little Ripper saving that single into right field.

That is the game kids. 5 to 2 win over the Kansas City Royals. Jake Peavy gets the win. Addison Reed gets the tick in the save column.

Back here tomorrow at 4:40am start, 1:10 in Chicago for the final in this three game series.

See you on the field
